Waseda University closes until May 29 due to measles

Waseda University decided to call off all its classes for nine days until May 29 to contain a measles outbreak among its students, university officials said.
About 55,000 students at most of its campuses, including its graduate schools, will be affected by the decision, the most at a single university since the outbreak began.

The prestigious private university based in Tokyo canceled classes starting Monday afternoon at eight campuses, including Nishiwaseda, the main campus in Shinjuku Ward, and Tokorozawa, its branch school in Saitama Prefecture.
The decision affected all 16 departments, most of the graduate school units and institutes, and about 55,000 of Waseda's more than 57,000 students. Students will be banned from entering the campuses.
However, the Kitakyushu campus, where its graduate research center is situated, and two high schools in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, and Honjo, Saitama Prefecture, will continue conducting classes.
Waseda has received 30 reports of measles infection in students since late April.
The number of measle patients in their teens and 20s has been rising sharply, particularly in the Kanto region, since mid-March. Other universities, including Sophia University and Nihon University in Tokyo, also have called off classes to contain the infectious disease.

So...I will not be having classes till next Tuesday.

I wonder if I've got the immunization for measles...

I remember getting 4~5 injections in school when i was in Primary6 but was measles immunization included in them?? Gosh...I do not have my health booklet with me :(

Went for the barbeque organised by the debating team of international law at the Futago Tama River. BBQ by the riverside...summer-ish yea??
After pigging on some bbq-ed meat and Yakisoba(fried noedles), I rushed down to Takadanobaba to meet with my fellow freshmen from the Magic Club.
Yep we had our freshmen party :D Went to karaoke...followed by nomikai.
I LOVEEE THE MAGIC CLUBB x)

Currently rehearsing for the concert in June. I'll not be performing on stage but will be showing Close-Up magic and will be helping backstage. Hope the concert will be a great success cos the senpais are working REALLY hard for it.

roppongi hills @ Monday, May 07, 2007

Grabbed the photo from Melody's friendster account.
Took this picture while waiting to be seated in the Italien Restaurant in Roppongi.
From left...Miri, Momo, Melody (THE M's :p)
Yea, we had a 3 hrs girls' talk in the restaurant. You know, the kind of things girls of our age always talk about xD
Mel is a mix of Malaysian,Indonesian and Korean!!!!! She studied in a Secondary School in Singapore and she actually went to CJC for the first 3 months (@o@) The world is so small.

Just had French test and a quiz on psychology today.
I am starting to like French...at least learnt how to introduce myself.
Psychology is interesting, but its harder than what I expected.

My schedule/to-do lists for the next few days.

---Tennis in the morning tomorrow, seminar for international law debate, lecture meeting for magic club(dinner after that :) )
---Settle things on part-time job.
---Watch Gegege no Kitarou the movie on Wednesday.
---Revise for Economics quiz which is on Thursday.
---Complete my Math Statistics homework which is due on Friday.
---Start on first essay draft for English Academic Writing class.
---Tea session and last Magic lecture meeting :( on Saturday.
---BBQ for international law debate and Freshmen nomikai on Sunday.

I'm thinking of taking up another part time job as a wedding party staff in the Four Seasons hotel near the campus or as a waitress in a restaurant in Shinjuku...Hmmm, i need to save up for the Megumi Ogata concert in July and the w-inds. concert in August.

what else.....

YES!!! My mum is coming to Japan on the 16th of this month. She could only stay for few days but we are going to watch the Somei sen (Waseda VS Meiji university) together :)

new idols @ Sunday, May 06, 2007

OMGGGG my senpais from the magic club is SO COOL!!!!!!!!

JUNKI senpai and YURI senpai.
Junki senpai is the chairman of Waseda Magic Club. He is the one who introduced me to the club.Yuri senpai is SO pretty! I want to be like her as time goes by in Uni :(
Her stage magic using doves is seriously pro.

ANYWAY, this is how I spent the Golden Week.

Day 1 (Thursday)
Went to watch the Sokei American Football match with EnHui and her friends.
*as shown in my previous entry*

Day 2(Friday)
Went to Roppongi Hills with Melody and Miri. Will upload the pics once Melody sends them to me *stares at Melody* We planned to watch Spiderman 3 but the cinema was too packed :(
So we went to a random Italien restaurant and had a major girls' talk.

Day 3(Saturday)
Cleaned my room in the morning, ironed my clothes in the noon, went to shop for cooking tools in the afternoon, changed and left my place in the evening for the Magic Association Spring Concert in Akabane. Magic is totally new to me, but I'm so 'addicted' to it now. I feel this thrill and excitement while watching stage magic, and while showing trump magic to my friends.
After the concert, WMC(waseda magic club) went to Ikebukuro for nomikai.

Day4 (Sunday)
Stayed in the dorm to revise for my french test and did the homework for the English class tomorrow. AND I STARTED COOKING!! The dorm does not provide meals on Sundays and Public Holidays( including the whole of Golden Week). Also, I want to bring Obento(lunchbox) to uni as often as possible to control on my expenses and weight xp

CLASSES RESUME TOMORROW!!!!
FRENCH TEST TOMORROW!!!!!

golden week @ Thursday, May 03, 2007

ITS GOLDEN WEEK!!!!!

Golden Week is this crappy week, in which there is neither work nor school...So its a total holiday week. Public holidays for a week xp

HOW I SPENT MY FIRST DAY OF GOLDEN WEEK:

I went to watch the American Football Sokei match with Enhui and some of her friends.
Sokei match is the traditional match between Waseda and Keio(the rivals).

EnHui and I then went down to Shibuya for window shopping.
I need to control my greed...I just got 4 tops, a pair of heels from Harajuku, a hat from GAP, a necklace from UNIQLO. And now I want the polkadots camisole from UNIQLO (><)
I'm broke *sobs*
I want to post the neoprint we took but I can't save the pic into my phone... x(

So heres pictures from the Sokei match.

WASEDA AMERICAN FOOTBALL TEAM BIG BEARS

Me, EnHui, Emi :)

The kawaii cheerleaders from Waseda.

Can u see the score???

WASEDA beat KEIO 24-14 :D

Planning to go to Roppongi tomorrow with Mel, Miri and Kozue for lunch and may also catch SPIDERMAN3.
